Nick Van Eck, son of investment management veteran Jan Van Eck, is making a foray into the world of cryptocurrencies. He is entering the competitive realm of stablecoins with the help of his namesake family business. Along with crypto veterans Drake Evans and Joe McGrady, he co-founded Agora, a startup that aims to offer users a haven from volatility by pegging itself to other assets like the dollar. Agora recently secured $12 million in a seed funding round, led by digital-asset venture firm Dragonfly and with investments from General Catalyst and Robot Ventures. This move showcases the increasing interest in cryptocurrencies and stablecoins within the investment community.
