SanDisk’s 644% Rally Puts NAND Margins to the Test
AI infrastructure demand is pulling enterprise flash into the same spending cycle as compute and networking. After a more than sevenfold share-price rise this year, investors need realized NAND pricing and enterprise SSD mix to validate a valuation that already assumes scarcity.
SanDisk has become one of the most extreme public-market expressions of the AI infrastructure trade. Shares are up about 644% in 2026, closing Monday at $1,766.64 for a market value of roughly $259 billion, while Rosenblatt initiated coverage with a $2,400 target. The thesis is built on tight NAND supply and growing demand for high-performance enterprise storage.
SanDisk produces NAND flash and storage products. HBM, the high-bandwidth DRAM used alongside AI accelerators, is supplied by companies such as SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron. Combining the two under an undifferentiated "AI memory" label obscures the capacity, pricing and margin drivers that matter to SanDisk.
AI clusters still create a powerful storage demand channel. Training checkpoints, model repositories, retrieval workloads and inference data move repeatedly between compute, memory and persistent storage. Enterprise SSDs benefit when those workloads require higher capacity, throughput and reliability.
Rosenblatt's Kevin Cassidy said third-quarter NAND average selling prices were rising by more than 20%. SanDisk has roughly 11% of the NAND market and manufactures through its long-running partnership with Kioxia. In a constrained market, higher selling prices and a richer enterprise mix can move gross profit faster than unit demand alone because much of the manufacturing base is already in place.
The share price has already capitalized an extraordinary amount of that operating leverage. SanDisk traded below $100 within the past year before rising more than an order of magnitude. At this point, another broad forecast for AI storage demand adds little information.
What would add information is conversion: contract NAND pricing, enterprise SSD mix and the margin response as higher prices move through the Kioxia-linked manufacturing base. HBM and NAND shortages can occur at the same time, but they are driven by different capacity and technology constraints. SanDisk's equity now requires its own shortage to appear in realized economics. The 644% rally has turned a category thesis into an execution test.
