The US government is making efforts to take control of a high-end apartment located in Manhattan, suspected to have been acquired with funds embezzled from the Republic of Congo's government. Court documents revealed the purchase of the apartment, situated on the 32nd floor of the Trump International Hotel and Tower, for $7.1 million in 2014. Federal prosecutors assert that the source of the funds used for this purchase is linked to an international plot to launder money stolen from the Congo government.
