Yahoo bought Artifact, an app that uses AI to find and summarize news stories. Artifact was made by the people who started Instagram. Yahoo is interested in the technology Artifact has, not the small team that made it. Kevin Systrom from Artifact said this deal would help make their app reach more people, thanks to Yahoo's big size. Artifact had cool features like showing what news your friends read and summarizing long articles. Even though the app will stop being used, Yahoo plans to use its smart technology to make Yahoo News better.

Yahoo wants to use Artifact's smart ways of finding and showing news that people will like, helping Yahoo stand out. The technology can sort news, make it more personal for readers, and stop annoying clickbait. Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, the creators of Artifact, will give advice to Yahoo for a while to help with these changes.
